Celebrating it’s 30th Anniversary this year, New Kensington Community Development Corporation has set the city-wide standard for neighborhood renewal. NKCDC has forged sustainable partnerships and demonstrated that grassroots organizing, committed staff and careful planning can invigorate a community to reinvent its future. NKCDC’s work has been the catalyst for true change in Kensington and Fishtown. Abandoned lots transformed into community gardens, unprecedented and still-booming development, and a thriving international arts scene have replaced blight and are the direct result of NKCDC’s development and leadership.
We hope you can join us to raise your glass to this year’s awardees: Deputy Mayor for Environmental and Community Resources Michael DiBerardinis and Joan Reilly, Chief Operating Officer at the Mural Arts Project. This formidable couple have been tireless advocates for this community for decades and raised their family right here in Fishtown.
